My job as a nurse at Wildwood School is quite varied. Basically, I work with the staff to make sure that every student has the opportunity to learn despite any physical or medical obstacles. I provide first aid, administer medication and educate children about healthy habits, growth and development, fire safety, disability awareness as well as, specific medical conditions. I am often liaison between classroom and home. I maintain medical records in accordance with the State Department of Health. I screen students or many things, including vision, hearing, height, weight, scoliosis, and, yes, the dreaded, head lice. I attempt to protect the whole school population from contagious conditions and attempt to identify any potentially unsafe or unhealthy situations. On a personal note, I enjoy my work here and find every year different and interesting.
